Albert McMahon Mission City Rotary Fund

Providing grants to children of special circumstances and therefore in need of help.
Read MoreAlbert McMahon Mission City Rotary Fund
This Fund was established in 1989 by the Rotary Club of Mission Sunrise as a memorial to Albert McMahon.
Mr. McMahon was one of the first members to join the Mission Rotary Club and he helped steward the growth of the Club in the early days. A quiet philanthropist, Mr. McMahon wanted to ensure that every child had the best possible opportunity to succeed and would donate monies towards education, housing or whatever was required. He donated land for a school and provided personal scholarships through Mission Senior Secondary School starting in 1954. If there was a sports team that needed a sponsor, he was there.
The Rotary Club felt that Mr. McMahon should be memorialized for his contributions to the community. This Fund is dedicated to providing funding for children within the District of Mission who are in special circumstances, and therefore in need of help. Funding has been used to provide both scholarships and granting for this purpose.
If you would like to help children succeed, donate today!

Read MoreBill and Linda Clark Sports Fund
Bill & Linda Clark are long time Mission residents who have been involved in our community in various ways. Linda worked as an advertising sales and marketing representative for the Mission Record and Bill was a realtor for more than 30 years.
Bill also played on the UBC Thunderbirds Volleyball team that took the Canadian University (CIAU) title in 1967. This earned them a spot in the 1967 World Student Games in Tokyo. It was in Tokyo that the team helped change the game in Canada and in 2002 the team was inducted into the UBC Sports Hall of Fame. In 2018 the team, including Bill and three other teammates from Mission, were recognized as pioneers in the sport when they were inducted into the Volleyball BC Hall of Fame.
Linda’s hobbies are of an artistic nature. She’s an accomplished actor, singer, an artist, loves to enjoy Mother Nature whenever possible, and volunteers at the Clarke Theatre. Linda joined the Mission Community Foundation Board of Directors in 2017 and through her work on the Board saw a need for a sporting fund. With her husband’s affinity for sports, it made sense to create a fund that would assist young children in finding healthy alternatives to video games and boredom.
