A fund developed to help charitable organizations succeed by providing grants for community projects.
The Rocks have always been involved with our community. Cliff served with the Mission Kinsmen Club, Mission Memorial Hospital and Boy Scouts, and Marjorie with the Mission Kinettes Club. They assist in the presentation and education of the Arts by providing the building the Mission Arts Council and Gallery currently occupy.
Upon retirement from pharmacy, the Rocks looked to the Mission Community Foundation to help them meet their philanthropic goals. They started three funds: Rock Family Food Fund which grants funding to organizations helping feed Mission residents; Rock Pharmacy Scholarship for students entering pharmaceutical education; and the Cliff & Marjorie Rock Fund, a community granting fund.
The Mission Community Foundation is honored to assist the Rock family meet their philanthropic goals and continues to provide funding for community groups well into the future through this endowment fund.

Read MoreG. W. (Bill) Harris Fund
This community fund was started by one of our founding fathers, Mr. G.W. (Bill) Harris, as a granting fund for charitable organizations who need extra funding for projects.
Mr. Harris started out his career as an accountant, but his love for his community and desire to make it better changed his direction. In the early 1970’s Bill became involved in local politics and he was Mission’s mayor for three terms. He was awarded the honour of Freeman of Mission in 1982. In the late 1980’s Bill became one of the founding members of the Mission Community Foundation. He stated:
“Becoming a founder in the Mission Foundation was my greatest contribution to the community”.
We are grateful to Mr. Harris and our other founding fathers for recognizing the need to build the Mission Community Foundation and realizing that together we can make a difference in our community.
It is the wish of the Mission Community Foundation to continue the work that the founders started.

Negrin Community Fund

This fund provides grants for community projects that help charitable organizations succeed.
Read MoreNegrin Community Fund
This fund was started from the bequest from Atileo Negrin in June of 1999.
Atileo Negrin grew up on Nicomen Island helping his parents run the family dairy farm from a young age. After selling the farm, Atileo worked at a local mill for several years before retiring to care for his parents.
His cousin, Nino, stated that although Atileo was not a member of any organized groups in the valley, he was passionate about Mission and wanted to support community projects through this fund. Surviving family member, Emily Negrin, believes that Atileo would be pleased to see what grants from his fund have done to help the community groups in Mission.
Atileo’s friends and family regarded him as an institution who will be missed but never forgotten and through this fund, he never will be.

This fund was developed by the Heritage Park Association to keep Norma Kenney’s legacy alive and to support the Heritage Park Association. When the Heritage Park Association dissolved in 2017, their Board decided to turn this fund into a Community Fund for special projects in Mission.
Norma walked the property that was the original site of St. Mary’s Residential School, which is now called Fraser River Heritage Park. She had a vision of this site becoming a park where people could come to learn of those who settled this area and who gazed across the panorama.
Norma was a founding member of the Heritage Park Association in the early 1980’s. She was a professional singer and performed with Mart Kenney and his Western Gentlemen. Her volunteer activities included: Mission Arthritis Society, Mission Downtown Revitalization Committee, Fraser Valley Academy of Music Board and Fraser Valley College Board. She was awarded Freeman status in 1979, Citizen of the Year in 1981, Friends of Heritage Certificate in 1985 and Pathfinders award in 1996.
