Early Grants

Granting in the early days was a bit more homespun than allowed by CRA regulations today.  From these early funds the Foundation helped projects such as: establishment of the Mission Community Archives building, new library project, Carved From Wood (book), Centennial Calendar, murals on 1st street and archives building as well as the Cedars, and even funding for Olympic hopefuls in the early 1990’s.

Granting became large enough for the Board to establish a committee to review and recommend.  The first members of our granting committee were Sandy Goold, Eleanor Lobb and Roxann McKamey.  They established the processes by which the Foundation would accept and review applications.  While the delivery of the materials to committee members has changed, the processes used in reviewing applications remain sound and are in use today.
