Foundation Fables: Then and Now – Episode 8

Growing New Funds

The Mission Foundation started to experience consistent growth and during the first six years the directors established 15 funds of which 10 were dedicated to scholarships.  An early pattern was starting to develop; Mission really cares about the education of their youth.

Funds were being established by individuals as a memorial, families, groups as a future fund source, willed bequests, and through immemorial donations.  In the early 1990’s the Foundation set up a matching program to help new funds get off the ground.  If you were able to raise $5,000, the Foundation would kick in the other $5,000 and your new fund was established.
