Robin Sorrell loved poetry and the poem below is one of his poems written pre 2000.
A Helping Hand
Give a hand to the lame,
Those who cannot see,
They shall find contentment,
And grateful, they shall be.
An errand for the elderly,
Or a letter, for to post,
A pensioner needs groceries.
Being helpful, is the most.
Weed a neighbours garden,
And mow another’s lawn,
Task, really never end,
They just go on, and on.
Just a helping hand,
To the needy lend,
Gives one such comfort,
And gains another friend.
Don’t put off until tomorrow,
The good you can do today,
Faint hearts, help no one,
But good deeds, really pay.
