Albert McMahon Memorial Fund
Albert McMahon was one of the founders of Mission Community Foundation. He was known in our community as a great supporter of youth, sponsoring many sporting groups and organizations. Albert was involved with the Dewdney-Alouette Regional District, Fraser Valley College, Mission Tree Farm, Mission Golf & Country Club, Mission City & District Board of Trade. He was a Mason and a member of the Mission Rotary Sunrise Club and recipient of the Paul Harris award.
Generous with funding by providing scholarships to deserving students since 1954; he also donated 10 acres of land for a new school that bears his name.
Albert was awarded Freeman of Mission status and the first Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award.
“I love this community so much,” he says, “ ‘til my last breath I’m going to keep trying to help whenever I can”
This fund was created by Albert’s daughter, Gina, who loved her father very much and wanted to keep his legacy going. This scholarship fund is dedicated to students pursuing careers in forestry related trades or professions, with a preference given to candidates with a strong record of volunteerism or community involvement.
