Dirk Boswyk Memorial Fund

Marilyn and Fenmo Boswyk’s son Dirk was only 36 years of age when he was tragically killed in an earthquake in Manzanillo Mexico in 1995.

Dirk had entered the school of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia, but his fascination with computers led him to work with College Printers and then as a member of the systems support team for Lower Mainland Publishing Limited, The Now Newspapers parent company.

Rick O’Connor, Vice President of Newspaper Operations for LMPL at the time, called Dirk  “A brilliant guy whose knowledge of computers was outstanding.”

Dirk’s passion for computers led his mother Marilyn and father Fenmo to honour his memory by generously donating to The Mission Community Foundation. His deed stipulates funds to be directed for scholarships to deserving graduate students from Mission School District #75 furthering their studies in any educational institution in Canada who are planning a career in computing science.

If you’d like to help a student pursue a career in computing technology this fund is for you.  Please donate today!
