Elizabeth O Stevens Memorial Fund
Betty McMahon started the Elizabeth O Stevens fund in 2000 as a way to memorialize her late mother.
Elizabeth was born in 1908 into a family of 8 children. She lived on a dairy farm in the lower mainland and helped with daily chores. After she graduated from grade 12, Elizabeth wanted to continue her education in the nursing field but financial constraints prevented her from pursuing it.
She lived her life as a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Known for her excellent Christmas candy and popcorn balls, Elizabeth was also a formidable bowler. She bowled until the age of 91 and only quit because she could no longer see well enough to bowl.
Betty dedicated this fund to the career her mother was unable to achieve and scholarships are offered to graduating students pursuing a career as a nurse or in the health / medical sciences.
If you would like to help a student study nursing or health/medical sciences, donate today!
