Finch Memorial Fund – Arts

This fund was established in 2000 by Mrs. Nancy Finch and family as a way to honour the lives of Caroline Kason (Finch), Guy Finch and Beryl Bailey (Finch).

The Finch family immigrated from Kenya to Canada in 1947 and established a dairy farm in Dewdney that they owned until 1967.  The family stayed in the Mission area while all four children graduated from Mission Senior Secondary School.  Their son Chris returned to Mission and practiced medicine until his retirement.

From 1993 to 1999, Nancy, Chris and his wife Suzanne provided Mission Senior Secondary School with an annual scholarship.  In 2000 they approached the Mission Community Foundation to establish a permanent fund that will provide scholarships to graduating Mission Secondary students entering Science or Arts programs in traditional post-secondary institutions.
