This fund is a scholarship fund for students enrolling in a program in which reading and writing can make a significant difference in the world. Studies include: teaching, creative writing, journalism, scholarly research and literacy programs.
Paula Chmilar was a gifted educator touching the lives of hundreds and hundreds of students, and their parents. Her example and passionate advocacy of child-centered learning has inspired many of her fellow teachers in Mission and beyond.
Her main passion was teaching children to read and write, to think critically and creatively, to be delighted in themselves and confident in their abilities, and to take care for one another; always giving freely of herself.
Paula’s family and friends started the Paula Chmilar Memorial Fund in her honour.
