Bernice was a self-sufficient woman. She taught Sunday school while dreaming of becoming a full time teacher and supported herself through the great depression and WWII before she married and raised seven children to which she devoted all of her time and attention.
An avid reader, bowler and bingo player she was known for wiping the floor with her bingo opponents. She had a sharp wit and an unbelievable memory for reciting poetry.
This Bursary fund was created by her family to keep her memory alive in Mission. Dedicated to providing students pursuing post-secondary education in the fields of Mathematics and Literacy this fund also encourages leadership, citizenship, peer counselling and community service.
