Cynthia Verhulst grew up in Mission, attended Mission schools and was a gifted musician and vocalist.

From an early age, Cynthia wanted to make life better for those less fortunate than herself.  She donated her time to the Red Cross, Mission Hospital Auxiliary, Mission Youth Council, the District Mayor’s Council, High school Music department, and supported a foster child in Haiti.

Her musical talents did not go unnoticed as she won awards for duet, vocal, jazz and chamber choir.  She was also the lead vocalist with the Roadrunners Jazz Band.

Cynthia’s life came to a tragic end in 1995 and a memorial concert was held with proceeds donated to the Mission Community Foundation.

The Cynthia Verhulst Memorial Fund is dedicated to Mission graduating students wishing to pursue post-secondary education in Music or Music Education.
