Scholarship fund for students entering Musical Studies.
When you have a teacher that inspires his students to go above and beyond, you get students who want to pay it forward.
David Fryer was that kind of teacher. He made his students work hard and they got results winning multiple awards. His dedication to music excellence went beyond the school walls and many local artists credit him for their successes.
David was an incredible mentor to his fellow teachers as well, giving time and resources freely. Upon retirement, he offered his vast collection to other music department teachers as he couldn’t bear to see those resources go to waste.
Without David’s support and influence, I would not be the teacher I am today. I can also confidently say that he had an enormously positive impact on countless students throughout his impressive teaching career.”
~ Julie Aldridge (teacher in Mission School district)
When David became ill with Parkinsons disease, Laura Midan, a past student, decided to honour him by creating a scholarship fund at the Mission Community Foundation for students who had been involved in the music programs at school and were planning on continuing in post-secondary training.
We are honored that Laura chose the Foundation to keep David’s memory alive and to help fellow students further their artistic talents. If you want to help keep David’s memory alive, please contribute today.
