In 2007 Mission Community Services approached Mission Community Foundation requesting a grant for $500 to enable Missions participation in the First Lego League Team Challenge.
The First Lego League (FLL) is an international program for children created in partnership between FIRST and the Lego Company. The annual challenge engages the teams in hands-on robotics design and authentic scientific research. The FLL season culminates in high-energy, sports-like tournaments. The organization designs accessible, innovative programs to build self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills while motivating young people to pursue science, technology, and engineering opportunities.
The organizers for the project felt that this program would provide an invaluable opportunity for the youth in Mission to participate locally and be part of a ‘global’ community.
Mission Community Foundation is unclear as to the results of the Challenge. If you have information on how the team did, please contact our executive director, Angie, at 604-826-5322.
