The Rotary is known worldwide as an organization that helps others. They have 6 main causes one of which is Education. Within the Education umbrella they promote Literacy worldwide.
In September of 2011 the Sunrise Rotary Club in Mission created the Literacy Endowment Fund with the sole purpose of providing grants to charities promoting literacy in our community.
“Mission Rotary Sunrise group has been meeting since 1945 and is dedicated to helping Mission residents. Permanent endowments such as Rotary Literacy Endowment Fund will help ensure its goals and values will continue into the next generation.”
Organizations that assist young and old with fundamentals such as reading are important to our continued growth as a community. This fund has helped organizations like Mission Literacy in Motion with programs like Mother Bear, Coder Dojo, Reading Buddies and Thursday Club. It has provided $3,300.00 in grants for 3 programs.
