Jack Cannon was an independent trucker who hauled turf and sod until he was hired by the District of Mission to be a heavy equipment operator, a position he held for 18 years.

In 2001 Jacks wife Sherry started this fund as a way to memorialize a man she loved dearly and still misses to this day.  Sherry wanted to give students the chance to follow their passions in the trades field.  She looked at Mission Community Foundation scholarships and noted that there wasn’t a fund dedicated to trades so she started this fund.

The fund is available to graduating Grade 12 students living in Mission and intending to continue their education at a Trade or Vocational School.

Since 2001, this fund has helped 16 students with a total of $14,500.00 in scholarships.
